Zahm & Nagel CO₂ Purity Tester - 99–100% in 0.01% Increments - 10004

The Zahm & Nagel CO₂ Purity Tester is a precision gas purity testing instrument designed to measure carbon dioxide purity from 99% to 100% in 0.01% increments. It uses a calibrated absorption burette and caustic absorption method to determine the percentage of CO₂ in a gas sample.

Designed for beverage production, breweries, laboratories and quality control applications, the instrument provides a straightforward and highly accurate method of checking CO₂ gas purity. The improved design eliminates the confusing hose connections, multiple cocks and awkward handling associated with older gas purity testing methods, helping make routine testing cleaner and easier to perform.

The tester consists of a calibrated absorption burette and caustic reservoir mounted to a polished PVC frame. The 10102 absorption burette supplied with this configuration is graduated in 0.01% increments across a 99–100% range, allowing very fine measurement of high-purity CO₂

How It Works

A sample of the CO₂ gas being tested is introduced into the absorption burette and used to displace the air from the tester. A caustic solution is then introduced into the burette, where it absorbs the CO₂ in the sample.

Once absorption is complete, any gas remaining in the calibrated section represents the non-CO₂ portion of the sample. The calibrated scale allows the CO₂ purity to be read directly.
