Zahm & Nagel 1000D CO² Volume Meter SS60
Zahm & Nagel 1000D CO² Volume Meter SS60
The Zahm & Nagel 1000D CO² Volume Meter is a precision instrument designed to determine the average dissolved CO² level in tank-stored carbonated beverages. Developed as an improved version of the traditional Zahm-Hartung Volume Meter, the 1000D provides a more controlled and repeatable testing method, with a precision piston release mechanism designed to minimise sample loss and operator-induced variation.
Constructed from stainless steel for strength, durability and corrosion resistance, the 1000D is designed for regular use in brewery, beverage production and quality control environments where accurate carbonation measurement is essential. Its combination of a calibrated pressure gauge, thermometer and volumetric expansion system allows operators to establish the CO² content of a beverage sample by measuring pressure and temperature at equilibrium.
For producers where carbonation consistency is critical, the 1000D provides a practical way to verify CO² levels directly from a tank rather than relying solely on production settings or assumptions. It is particularly suited to breweries, beverage manufacturers, quality control laboratories and production facilities working with carbonated products.
Precision CO² measurement
The 1000D uses a volumetric expansion test to determine dissolved CO² levels. A sample is taken directly from the tank through the integrated clamping device, with the instrument allowing the sample to reach equilibrium before the pressure and temperature readings are recorded.
The supplied CO² volume chart correlates the measured temperature and pressure with the corresponding gas volume. The chart is based on the solubility of CO² in average beer, rather than solubility in water, providing readings appropriate for the intended beverage-testing application.
The instrument's piston release mechanism is designed to provide controlled expansion of the sample without the need to manually bleed off pressure. This helps reduce one of the potential sources of operator error associated with older volume-meter designs and contributes to repeatable testing from sample to sample.
Built for professional beverage production
The 1000D is manufactured with a stainless steel construction that provides strength and resistance to corrosion from repeated exposure to beverage samples. Its relatively lightweight design also helps reduce operator fatigue during testing and shaking.
The pressure gauge is calibrated to ±¼ psi at mid-range prior to shipment, while the thermometer is tested to ±¼ degree. The manufacturer recommends checking gauge and thermometer accuracy periodically using appropriate calibration equipment.
The thermometer can also be replaced in the field, allowing routine servicing without needing to return the complete instrument to the manufacturer.
